  • Development of Systems for Efficient and Optimum Energy usage
  • Development of Electrical Power System monitoring system

Development of Energy Generation from Bio-Wastes:

Three students of the department- Rishav Saha Choudhury, Sikder Arif Mohammad and Eldine Ch. Marak developed a successful model of Energy Generation from Cow-Dung (shown in the picture below). The product is named as Cow-Dung Battery, mainly based on generating electric energy from animal waste (Cow-dung). When series-connected, discharged batteries are placed in a basin containing some cow dung and saltwater, when exposed to sunlight, the batteries get re-charged. They can then be used in place of batteries as required in the circuits. The project is identified to have great relevance in rural setup considering its low cost, by Assam Science Technology and Environment Council (ASTEC).

Development of Systems for Efficient and Optimum Energy usage:

Students from the department- Rishav Saha Choudhury and his group also developed a circuit for Automated switching of home appliances, which can be operated using a mobile-based application (shown in the picture below). These systems can be used to control the operation of electrical appliances in an optimal manner so that energy can be saved.

Development of Electrical Power System Monitoring System:

A group of final year students from the department under the leadership of Rishav Saha Choudhury developed an Electrical Circuit integrated with a mobile application that is developed for monitoring substation power supplies in real-time. The mobile-based monitoring makes the optimum scheduling of power supply possible through rapid decision making by the power supply utility. A model of the circuit developed is shown in the following figure.
